Connecting an online calculator to Google Sheets
Connect your Calconic calculator to Google Sheets to automatically save data from your calculator submissions. This integration works with the Mail Results, Order Form, or Payment Button features. It's especially helpful if you want to store your customers' input from the calculators.
IMPORTANT: It's best to fully build and customize your calculator before integrating it with Google Sheets to prevent any errors or confusion.
Step 1 | Retrieve your Google Sheets ID
- Log in to your Google account.
- Open Google Sheets app and choose your file.
- Copy the link or ID of your file.
Step 2 | Connecting your Calconic calculator with Google Sheets
- Click My Calculators on the left side menu.
- Select the calculator you want to integrate.
- Open the calculator settings by clicking the Gear icon on the left.
- Click on the icon Google Sheets Integration.
- Paste your spreadsheet link or ID to the input field below the Google spreadsheet link or ID label.
- Click Connect and you will be prompted to an authorization page.
- Make sure to save the changes you have made in the calculator editor.
- Done! You have successfully connected your Calconic calculator with your Google Sheets spreadsheet.
Important notes:
-
Do not change any values in the first row of the spreadsheet, as the data will be added according to the order of elements in this row!
-
The spreadsheet columns will follow the same order as the element list in email notifications. You can also rearrange the columns by dragging them to your desired position. Read more on how to manage element list for email notifications 🔎.
-
If a column with a specific element number is deleted, a new column for that number will be created at the end of the columns during the next submission.
-
Fields from the order form will appear in the same order they were during the first submission and will be labeled as Element number: 1, Element number: 2, and so on.
-
A new spreadsheet, named by the current year and month, will be created each billing month in the same file to keep things organized.
-
The submission time will follow the timezone you set in the Date & Time settings.
Tips:
-
Cosmetic elements will also appear in the spreadsheet, but you can delete those columns to keep it tidy.
-
Changing the order of elements in the calculator or email notifications won't change the spreadsheet layout once the first submission is made.
-
If you change element labels in the calculator, they won't automatically update in the second row of the spreadsheet. You can manually edit them directly in the spreadsheet if needed.
